Day after a patch

Well, the day after a patch is always fairly brutal and this was no exception.  We now have many more Glyphs (like L2 tats) to set up, 3 Prime, Major, and Minor rather than just the Major and Minor ones.  Once you learn a glyph you can swap it out at any time with Vanishing Powder, no more rebuying glyphs each time to reuse them.  Buffs no longer take reagents, even though my portals still do, and mage table.

I put my main spec into arcane, and the new trees leave little to mess with.  You pretty much have to learn the entire tree before you can stick a few points into another tree.  I can no longer learn Icy Veins from frost or Icy Shards, but Improved Counterspell is easily available to all trees.  This makes sense and Blizzard clearly knows that most everyone was putting just enough points in Arcane to get Improved Counterspell anyway.  Icy Veins probably didn’t belong being in an arcane mages abilities.

The frost spec is now massively overpowered, with Frostbolt casting very quickly, brain freeze and the frostfire bolt being proc’d insta cast, cone of cold doing massive AOE damage and ice lance and Deep Freeze causing lots of damage and stunned immobility as well as the over all slow freezing effects.  I try to queue for for WG but even getting in 10 mins in advance I get booted out saying it’s too full.  That doesn’t make me happy.  I spend a good part of the rest of the time dueling Leonz, my paladin friend, and I kick his ass the majority of the time.  Frost is definitely goofy overpowered.  In fact the last battleground I ran, over 50% of the people in there were mages.

The health bars over enemies and friendly players are only working some of the time, which throws a giant kink into the way I pvp.  I target on HP bars on mobs and players, so this causes me lots of issues.  I buy my glyphs and log out.

Amber Ledge

I log in and grab the fishing daily which is Blood is Thicker. I fly to Amber Ledge in Borean Tundra and hit the lake from there. I like this ledge, btw.

At any rate this quest requires you kill an animal in the Tundra which turns you red,

then you rinse it off in the lake leaving behind a pool of blood in the water, which you then fish in to pull up 5 Bloodtooth  Frenzy fish.

Back in Dalaran someone throws me a Happy Fun Rock, which is one of a number of things you can throw to another friendly player and they can catch it. I turn in my fishing quest, get 7 gold, and some useless stuff I vendor and throw the rock to someone else.  Then I log out, because it’s wicked late.

Just kill me I need the mana

When on my priest in WG a lower level priest asked someone to kill some “noob hunters” by the alliance camp. I switched to my mage and killed one of them on top of a column by the lake. The battle starts!

The horde takes Sunken Ring early on and they must outnumber us because they are dying very easily. A shaman and I take out a siege engine and a horde paladin (blood elf what else) and hunter driving it with little problems. However they overwhelm our low numbers with vehicles and take over the fortress. At the end I had to stand and let one of them take forever to kill me because I was out of MP and gems and MP flasks and evo were all on cool down (CD). Embarrassing!

We got nothing with no tanks

I see two different groups trying for the Lich King tonight so I switch to my mage and join up.  The group “only” needs 2 tanks and 2 healers which is little better than “we got nothing”.

We get the healers and the tank and have the usual bout of retards who can’t get into vent, or don’t have headsets, etc. I more or less tell one of them they are being stupid and they insist they are not. Whatever. Then we get to Sindragosa’s Lair and someone pulls the Whelps with no one ready or buffed.  Then the healer says she doesn’t even fucking know the fight.  Yeah, wow, this is starting out so fail I don’t even know where to go.

More than one person in the group admits they don’t even know the Sindragosa fight so I ask in vent if anyone here has downed the LK yet.  They all say no.  It’s like wow holy shit how can you start up a LK killing group and you don’t even know the fight???  I want to blast them all to cinders where they stand OMG. I am clearly just wasting my flipping time right now, but it’s nearly 10 pm and I’m already locked into this disaster.  Thank GOD in the expansion you won’t get locked unless you down a boss.

Excluding the AOE damage, the dps can only be described as “suck ass” with some people below 5k so we’re clearly going nowhere tonight.  I’ll give it my 3 death try rule though. (I will not die more than 3 times in a pug on anything)

Stuff like this is why people say, MUST KNOW FIGHTS.  It’s because those of us that have run it 10000 times already, don’t have to put up with wet behind the ears people and we don’t have to listen to how to do it for the hundred millionth time. Oh and have the inevitable wipes because people don’t know what to do.

We fail miserably 3x in a row and I tell them it’s later than I thought which is way more polite than I figured I’d be and drop vent and group.  Yeah thanks for wasting my time people. Remind me next time to ask if they have even done LK BEFORE joining. I log out.

Fishing dailies

I log in and pick up my fishing daily which is The Ghostfish again (yay!) and the cooking daily is Convention at the Legerdemain which is also my favorite.  I like that one because I can easily cook up the stew and then nab my bottle of wine.

Plus you just have to run across the way to turn it in, to a lounge I’d love to stay in for real. Oddly enough I never noticed this guy was a high elf, maybe he’d like to go upstairs with me, ah ha ha XD  Bar tenders are easy, no?

I get my 9 gold and bag of spices then go to the ghostfish. Reminder, the ghostfish must be eaten within 60 seconds or it vanishes!  I remember to bolt my frostweave cloth to save room in inventory; it takes 5 cloth to make 1 bolt. While I’m out this way I head to WG to do my Bones and Arrows pvp quest.

Why do I look like I’m constantly mid-sigh? Ugh. Those mobs are also a great source of Crystallized Shadow which is another reason why I love WG so much. All the crystallized elements can be found here, as long as you are willing to risk some pvp. I turn that in and get my money and Stone Keeper Shards. I hitch the WG portal back to Dalaran and turn in the fishing quest. My haul is more junk and 10 gold.

I kick myself when flying to the Shadow Vault because I see a Titanium Vein part way there. I fly back, is it still there? YES! WOO!

I grab a few more Saronite veins, one containing a Scarlet Ruby. I get tromped on by an elite getting one node and have to sit and eat my mage food.

I decide to skip the Shadow Vault quests for right now and get the Assault by Ground one from the Skybreaker Squad Leader.

We go through several ambushes before arriving at the village.

I FLY back back to get my award of 13g, I learned my lesson trying to walk back down before and dying to said respawned ambushes.

On my way to join the WG battle I hit another Titanium Vein; this is a lucky day. I get rank 1 and build a catapult, and on my way to FlameWatch Tower, another Titanium Vein! Omg! I hop out, mine it, then set to breaking down the towers.

There are very few Horde on, seems like only a few paladins who have something like 20 stacks of Tenacity and take 10 Alliance just to kill.  We win like usual.

I fly around looking for ore and get another Titanium vein, I am on a roll!  I am up to 2 full stacks (20) of Titanium Ore. Too bad its value has dropped considerably lately, from 300g a stack or more to less than 120.  Then I find another, what a lucky day indeed!

Stoutspectre, who got me in this game originally, links me some items which I control+click on to preview on my character.  NICE

And this is exactly why I fly on a gryphon, for their compact size when trying to land ON a node because there is nowhere else to stand.

I find 2 more Titanium Nodes and then hit WG again with Stout.  We destroy the Horde despite their Tenacity again and have some fun along the way in the chopper!

Although I beg it’s a bad idea to take off gear anywhere in WG 😉 Then I take a break.
