Healers Fight

Last night we got down Alysrazor, even though that fight has like 4 phases, it was kind of fun.  Then we tried Baleroc.

This has been labeled a “healing fight” but I ran into some real problems. The way we were doing it was, to swap healing when the healer in a predetermined order, lost some flame buff, then they would stop tank healing and heal the people with the shadow crystal debuff.  But my problem was, I could not SEE when the healer ahead of me, lost their debuff.  And neither healer was talking in vent, so between pulls I was hastily trying to set up my interface to focus on the healer before me, setting up power auras, etc. At the end it seemed to just be a healing free for all which mostly worked ok, but then the paladin healer, Andrac,  kept getting the buff that reduces healing by 50%, and was trying to melee the boss to get mp back, so it just went badly from there.

But I’m sure we’ll get it next week. After that I ran 2 dungeons and in SFK I got “finally a good healer” XD  The non Z dungeons seem to suffer from that a lot I’ve noticed, I get in a lot of dungeons that are half done quite a bit, but I like it.

I need about 250 vp to getting a new robe so I decided to do some of the Z dungeons.  Ended up with a cool group in ZA talking about Final Fantasy games.  And, I really, REALLY do not understand how anyone could have like FF8, much less label it their favorite out of all of them. I really can’t.  Characters were all awful, story was AWFUL, having to drain magic spells from mobs was tedious as hell. Ugh.

I’ve noticed a trend lately though, where people who cause wipes in a dungeon group, leave.  Like every time lately.  Today a DK pulled a pathing mob, got 2 of us killed and then left.  A warlock got us killed not one shotting a scout, and left.

Got my Robe of the Cleansing Flame after a really annoying ZG.  We wiped on the last boss 4x and the only reason it wasn’t a 5th was because I got body slammed every single time and I know what to do. And, you know what irony is?  Irony is having a tank who had to be taught the fight because he didn’t know it, tell the DK who also didn’t know the fight how to do it, and that DK who missed every single body slam, then tell ME when to stand in the bubble.

After about 2 hours on Rhyolith, we got him down, finally.  Think it mostly had to do with, well, a few things.  One was topping everyone off before the stomp, another was letting his molten armor stacks drop so the stomp didn’t bring everyone to their knees regardless of health.  So a combination of both of those things, after the stomp, healing was not a prob. Nothing for me dropped though.

Then we went on to try Alysrazor

but, yeah, huge movement fight.  It took me a while to figure out that to survive the massive tornados that all I had to do was basically run in a little looping circle, following a tornado, turn, follow tornado, turn, repeat.  Got her to about 60%.

Action Nine News

So in the last few days I tried the new  BH raid, Occu’thar.  We had a good group, and although it took us like 5 tries to get it down, everyone was working well together to figure it out.  I always feel watching and reading about the raids is all good but you still have to do it and work together.

Then I joined up with Action Nine News to be on their raid team that goes Fri/Sat 8 to 12.  Those hours work well for me, and 2 days a week raiding I like too.

We tried this guy, Lord Rhyolith, but did not get him.  But, spending an entire night wiping, on new content, is nothing new.  Cauldrons were always set out, fish feast, and everyone was back in and ready to pull again within 1-2 mins after each wipe.

I ran arena with Leonz and although disc/ret pally is just not a good comp in general, we got enough points, combined with my arena points, for me to get my new shoulders.  And after that raid last night I ran TB and ran into Rayzo.

We had a little joke at Slags when everyone left us there, and I said “we got this” then clarified to mean that “by got this I mean, we’ll both get it in the ass in a few minutes” then being a typical rogue, he joked and said it would be just me because he’d vanish and leave my ass there.  Rogues ah, love them.  He didn’t though, and when 20 horde rolled in and kicked out ass he died too, but claimed it was only because he was DoT’d and didn’t have cloak up.  Suuure. But I have a new rogue fan, it looks like, so I’m happy.

Ala’kir Down

Last night we got down Ala’kir, but I did not get my shattered title since I never did Throne of Tides heroic.  Go figure!

Afterwards we went to Firelands and tried Shannox.  Fun fight, I liked it a lot.  We got him to 400k once, but people getting trapped in crystal traps too much, really put a damper on things.  If you have to spend 30 seconds dpsing a crystal trap, plus the person inside isn’t doing anything for that one, it’s hard to recover from.  One a fight is ok but it seemed 2 or more, you may as well just wipe.  I got caught in one in several attempts well after midnight but that was it.

One of the healers in the group seems to have continual computer problems though.  They are lagging, disconnecting, going random afk without saying anything, etc.  It’s a little frustrating to wipe on a boss then find out your healer was afk because they were outside yelling at a dog or something without mentioning it.  This is probably why most raids have rules about afking like that.

Mage T11

This week I was invited to team 3’s raid where we had planned on clearing out all raids.  We did all of BoT and I got the shoulders from Cho’gall, got a spirit helm (crown of burning waters) which was a massive upgrade from the 346 blue I still had, got a nice crit trinket  (Bell of Enraging Resonance) I will use when I make a frost raid spec (arcane is so boring) and we cleared all of BWD.

It’s kind of like Wrath all over again when I finally got the LK down after so many fails where it’s like, that was it? Granted it has been nerfed, so it’s easier but I can definitely say whatever went wrong the other times, it wasn’t healers causing the trouble.  And now finally, all my gear MATCHES!

We should be trying for Ala’kir tomorrow.  That will be interesting since I’ve only ever healed, and on the Rohash platform.
