Drops nerfed

I’ve read/heard there’s been a lot of unhappiness with the Cataclysm update, on various sides of the coin.  Casual raiders were not happy with the Firelands raids saying it was too hard.  I rather enjoyed them.  Hard core raiders were upset when it was nerfed and quit over it because they weren’t as hard. etc

I really had no problem with the difficulty of ICC, Bot/Bwd, or Firelands. What is kind of getting my goat lately is progress on gear, particularly tailored items. When cata first came out you could buy the epic pants/belt patterns with a bunch of embersilk or dreamcloth. You could make steady self-made progress on those.

Then Firelands rolls around and the patterns are drops from the FL raid trash ONLY.  Did I ever see those drop? No. Did I ever get a pattern? No.  I bought the spirit boots rec from the AH once and flipped it for profit expecting more to show up, but then the drops were nerfed into nonexistence and I literally never saw that boot pattern again until it didn’t even matter any more. Maybe it’s because I didn’t want to drop 15- 30k on a recipe that would never, EVER recup the costs of itself. But I had no way to get that pattern myself.

Now with Dragon Soul we still have the same crap with patterns, but ALL tier is based on tokens, when previously you could get everything but shoulders and helmet from VP. Now you have to win tokens to get anything, or get lucky in BH. Add to that you cannot prospect epic gems from any ore, those also only come from raids.  I know people asked for gear and such to go back to BC standards which I guess were “fun” to some people, but I personally like being able to make progress to some degree outside of raiding, even though I’ve always raided. The cost of inferno rubies have gone way up too since most people are using those instead of a 2-15k gems from raids.  Anyway my point is, I like being able to make my own, even if slow, progress on a few things myself, and not having to require raids 100% to get every upgrade.

FML

Did a DS 10 with mostly Relentless again, and fuck my life they had another disc priest in there again. Apparently no one called out loot rules so the druid won a weapon, then won a ring, and I lost the tier pants to the other priest. So to date out of BH, every week of LFR, and 2 10m DS, I got a side grade belt. I also turned in 4 of those geodes and got a single green gem. Really blizzard, really? I kill a RAID BOSS and get a gem worth 5g?

I was never mad like this when I had a guild raid team, but perhaps because I knew that eventually I’d get something and it wasn’t constantly walking away with someone I’d never see again. Anyway I should shut up my other characters have won enough but gosh, my priest is my MAIN so it bugs me.

I want this set

Ran guild LFR tonight and won Gloves of Liquid Smoke. Was another 10/11m guild run and Shock got to tease me about a nice necklace that dropped, saying he would have given it to my priest if I was healing.  Buuuut since it’s just one guild group a week I can make I’ve decided to rotate the characters.

And, ok, where do I get this set? huh huh? XD Damn custom armor…

252elleria

The good bg streak continued today as well, getting in an ALREADY WINNING wsg, which we won, the just rapage AB win, then a SotA win.  Amazing how the days fluctuate.

Drops

Did the last 4 bosses, first 2 dropped nothing for a priest, at all. The third dropped gloves, didn’t win that, and a shadow priest won both gloves and the sexy dps trinket. I can’t wait until I’m the person that wins multiple pieces of gear in one raid. Oh wait, I mean, besides when that happened on my SHAMAN, ha ha. Anyway on Deathwing only a staff I wanted dropped, did not win that either.

My Priest is bad luck

Did the first 4 bosses in LFR and finally got a piece of loot on this character, Cord of the Slain Champion with a very sexy 2 red gem sockets. Of course, it’s not much of an upgrade from a 378 belt but eh. So far the stats from LFR and BH are

Priest: 384 belt
Mage: Non tier shoulders and sexy trinket
Shaman: Non tier shoulders, ring, pure awesome healing mace, tier pants

So the character I just recently picked up again after never raiding, has the most gear. Hm.
