You sound familiar

I used to run into this enhancement shaman named Kash (Oltar) during AV weekends. Every time the battle ended, there he was again, queuing up and scrapping with me, Squeektoy, and whatever random DK was hanging around.

At first, it was just the usual back-and-forth—me calling him a “dirty enhancement shaman,” him insisting he was “clean” thanks to Healing Rain. But then he dropped a line from the Zelda cartoon—“Excuuuuse me, princess”—and suddenly I was right back in the ‘90s, laughing like an idiot at my screen. I threw Super Mario Bros. Super Show at him in return. From there, it was game on.

We traded jabs constantly—me threatening to bite, him claiming everyone who ganked him eventually ended up liking him. He wasn’t wrong. Even when I swore I’d keep fighting him, he’d wink back with, “Wouldn’t have it any other way.”

He’s gone from my friends list now, but those fights with Kash stick with me. It’s rare to run into someone in PvP who can trash-talk, banter, and still make you grin instead of grind your teeth. He made random battlegrounds feel less like a queue and more like a story I was lucky to be a part of.

Where dis boss?

Panda Party in AV, first one we did a Blitz successfully and then ran around as pandas doing a Van turtle, got down to 150 vs 550+ and still won. WoWScrnShot_100815_195108

Apparently too many people have MY transmog now!

Why We Can’t Have Nice Things!

I was talking to Mist today about some of the changes made in the game that were directly because players complaining or gaming the system.  Just a few I was thinking of.

Rolling on loot in LFR/LFD.

It use to work with Need/Greed which gave you an extra bonus if the item was for your current spec.  Several problems happened with this, entirely due to players being jerks.

  1. Large groups of raiders, such as guild mates, all rolling on gear even if they didn’t need it to win it and funnel it to their friends.
  2. Players who won a token/item getting harassed, vote-kicked, killed, or other griefing measures if they didn’t give it to someone else.
  3.  Players winning items they didn’t need, and black-mailing others to give them something else that person had won.  Or, winning a highly desired item for others and sharding it, just to be an ass.
  4. Refusing to roll on an item and making everyone else wait the full duration before the item was won.
  5. Kicking someone because they won something, even if it was an item they would use, just because other people were mad.

Personal loot took care of ALL OF THIS. You get what you get and no one can do anything about it, and it’s soulbound so NO TRADING fusses.

Tag to raid group bosses or elites.

Once a raid engaged a raid boss, like Sha of Anger, only people in the raid could get loot.  This led to a mad panic scramble to get in the raid, with people refusing to invite just for spite (if they had room), full raids denying people and  just completely missing a long-respawn kill because you couldn’t get in the raid.  Some of the world bosses were once a week, so missing a kill was very problematic.  And just forget ever getting anything if you were a non-dominant faction on a very unbalanced server.

Now, it’s tag to faction, or tag to all.  If you hit the boss, or heal someone hitting the boss,  you get credit.

There’s still plenty of griefing to be had, of course.

You King of the Forest??

After not seeing Ivus for some 5-6 years, we’ve summoned him a good oh, 4 times now?  This last attempt he was able to make it halfway down south before we won too.  Video is on youtube.

That being said I have another rogue in my sights (Ticrogue-Blackhand), someone who kept on me pretty hard in AV, and I went to their server to say hello.  Ran into them twice in AV so far.   If we’re lucky AV can turn into a surrogate Tol Barad, since Ashran isn’t going to be a place you see familiar faces.

Yes, Horde is THAT bad.

They have no heals, they have no damage.  People have no gear.  I get smashed by 3-5 ally no matter where I go on the map.  It’s exactly like it was when my monk was still horde, in fact.   I daresay it’s worse than the worst I’ve seen Alliance back in the day.

Then I’m seeing team comps like this:

It’s like geez.  Other than the MULTIBOXING Dk, what the really heck?
